A Message From The Wilson Scholarship Initiative

The Wilson Scholarship Initiative aims to award two $1000 scholarships to Wilson students this year, with plans to award more scholarships each year.

Our Plan

“Gift Cards for Scholarships” – purchase a gift card at participating businesses in Hillsdale, Multnomah, Southwest the week of 11/30 – 12/6 (businesses TBD). Businesses will donate 10% of gift card sales to the Wilson Scholarship Initiative.

Non-retail businesses and services have the option to make a contribution to our Wilson Scholarship Initiative. They will be listed as  “Proud Contributors” on marketing.

Alums and Wilson supporters are also invited to participate through donations. This can be done by check to:

Our Goal

  • Award two $1000 scholarships to Wilson graduates this year
  • Begin a drive to raise $50,000+ to endow perpetual scholarships for Wilson students

 

Why Scholarships?

  • The average college graduate leaves school with $22,500 debt
  • For every $1.00 in Federal Pell Grant aid to students, Oregon spends $.24
  • Oregon received an “F” on college affordability from the National Center for Public Policy & Higher Education
