Wilson High School’s band concert is Wednesday, December 9th at 7:00pm. Kids currently in band at Jackson are invited to attend the concert and then meet Mrs. Cywinski at Dairy Hill for ice cream afterwards. Nick Caldwell (band director at Wilson) may join as well. This would be a good opportunity for all kids interested in pursuing band in high school to meet with Wilson’s director.
Jackson is required to volunteer a few days each year at the clothing center housed in Marshall High School. Our next day is Monday, January 4th from 9:30-12:30.
Please, if you can help sort donated clothing or help visiting families shop for winter clothing, please consider sharing a couple hours of your time. Questions or rsvp can be sent directly to Carol Lidberg at carol.lidberg@gmail.com
This year’s letter is a special one. Before we tell you why, a huge thank you is required to recognize the historic generosity of the Jackson community that has brought us to this point. Friends and parents of Jackson Middle School have given their time and financial support at a level that has allowed an exceptionally talented faculty and staff to translate those resources into educational success and inspiration for our children.
To build on this strong foundation, we are kicking off a major fundraising campaign to fund 1-to-1 technology for every Jackson Middle School student.
The Full Chrome Jackson Fund Drive will provide a fully equipped Chromebook Cart for every Language Arts classroom at Jackson. The teachers of Jackson Middle School will leverage this investment in ways that those of us who think textbook and pencil when we hear about classroom tools really can’t imagine.
We are writing today to encourage you to join us in contributing generously to the Full Chrome Jackson Fund Drive this fall. This campaign is PTA’s largest fundraising initiative ever and our goal is $75,000.
Please be reassured, the Jackson PTA is still fundraising for the Bernstein Artful Learning program, field trip scholarships, classroom supplies, and enrichment like Culture Day and the Sun School program. Other fundraisers throughout the year will continue to support those important activities.
Your children deserve the best education possible, so please donate today. We have attached recommended contribution levels and ideas for giving. Please make your check payable to the “Jackson Middle School PTA,” and drop it in the Full Chrome Jackson box in the office (or mail to Jackson Middle School PTA, 10625 SW 35th, Portland, OR 97219).
We also accept online donations on our fundraising page.
Sincerely,
The Jackson Middle School PTA Board
